Here's exactly what happens when you join the community, what kinds of opportunities come through, and what saying yes (or no) actually looks like.
Sign up takes about five minutes. You'll tell us about your health journey, what you'd like to be matched on, your preferred way to be contacted, and how often you want to hear from us. You can skip anything that doesn't feel right.
Within 24 hours, you'll hear from the Unum team with a proper hello, plus a few small ways to get involved in the community right away. No pressure, no obligation.
A pharma, biotech, or health tech company reaches out to us with a brief: who they want to hear from, what they want to learn, what they're offering in return. We review every brief before it ever reaches you.
If the brief matches your profile, we'll send you a short email with everything you need to know: the company, the topic, the format (interview, focus group, advisory board, etc.), the time commitment, and what they're offering in compensation.
Yes? Great. We connect you with the company directly and they handle the contract, consent, and compensation from there. No? Also great. We log your preferences and keep matching for the next opportunity. There's no penalty, no follow-up, no awkwardness.
You take part in the research on the agreed terms. The company pays you directly. Afterwards, we follow up to share what came of it where we can, and to check in on how the experience felt for you. Your feedback shapes who we work with next.
If you're a pharma, biotech, or health tech company that needs to reach real patients for research, you know how hard recruitment can be. Collective gives you direct access to a curated, diverse community of Canadian patients, vetted by a team that's built real trust with them.
You hold the contracts. You handle consent and compensation. We solve the reach problem so your team can focus on the work.
A community built intentionally for demographic, cultural, and journey-stage diversity, not just whoever's easiest to find.
Skip months of legal review and recruitment friction. We've done the relationship-building so your team doesn't have to start cold.
Curated matching by the Unum team, not algorithmic. Every patient surfaced for your brief actually fits what you're looking for.
It depends on how often opportunities come up that match your profile, and what you've told us you prefer. Some patients hear from us a few times a year, others a couple of times a month. You can update your preferences anytime.
Almost always, yes. Compensation varies by the format and time commitment, but the companies we work with offer fair payment for your time. We don't set the rates, but we advocate for them, and we'll always tell you what's being offered before you say yes.
Just the Unum team. We never share your profile, contact details, or story with a healthcare company unless you've said yes to a specific opportunity. Your information isn't browsable, searchable, or shared in any kind of database.
You're welcome here. Caregivers bring essential perspective that's often missing from healthcare research. There's a place to indicate your role on the sign-up form so we can match you to opportunities that fit.
Totally fine. You can pause matching at any time and still be part of the Patient Collective community: Snack Breaks, Book Club, conversations, events. The community keeps going whether or not you're actively saying yes to opportunities.
Anytime. Email us at hello@unumco.ca and we'll remove your information right away. No questions asked, no awkward exit process.
Yes. Your information is stored securely, only accessible to the Unum team, and never shared without your explicit consent for a specific opportunity. We follow Canadian privacy law and our own internal standards on top of that.
Joining takes about five minutes. You can update or remove your profile any time.
